Cavite-wide Fiber Optic Network signed with Converge

The province of Cavite, under Governor Boying Remulla, has signed a memorandum of agreement with Converge to start laying fiber optic cables to service the entire population of the province.

The entire project will be completed in 7 months and will target a minimum speed of 20Mbps for Cavite customers.

Here’s a complete quote from the governor after the signing of this MOA:

Cavite: The Digital Revolution

One of the most painful things to swallow is the news that reaches us that we have the slowest internet in the world.

Nakakahiya.

Two companies, Globe and Smart, constitute the duopoly that has kept us captive as a people.

That is about to end in the Province of Cavite.

And hopefully, the Philippines too.

Yesterday, August 17, 2017, we agreed to allow and help the company called Converge to lay its cables throughout Cavite.

More than 300 kilometers of fiber optic cables will be spread out to all the 7 cities and 16 municipalities of Cavite. We expect this to be finished in less than 7 months.

FIRST CLASS, WORLD CLASS.
That’s our motto.

20 MBPS AVERAGE. That’s our target.

Smart and Globe must face the challenge.

God bless the people of Cavite.

Converge has recently announced new fiber internet plans for as low as Php1,500 a month with speeds from 25Mbps to 500Mbps (see complete broadband plans here).
